An ode to an author who writes fiction with diverse characters…..Introducing Jacinda Buchmann

Published July 24, 2013 by G.L.

A few months ago, an author by the name of Jacinda Buchmann introduced herself to me after finding out that we review books that include diversity on our book blog, Twinja Book Reviews .

Through our book blog, we’ve had the chance to connect with lots of authors that write Fantasy, YA, Sci-Fi and Paranormal books that feature at least one Main Character as the main protagonist. Jacinda Buchmann had 3! And to top it off a lot of the characters were in interracial relationships and race apparently played no role in the plot of the story. Jacinda choose to self publish, which has introduced a sea of POC of YA books.

Traditional Publishing hasn’t quite gotten the memo that POC read YA books too, and that they don’t want to read about stereotypical characters. Which is why I love the Indie Publishing world. Indie books gives authors a chance to incorporate diversity without having to give into publishing houses that want to future harsh stereotypes.

Her book Indigo Incite features a diverse cast as well as thrilling sic-fi elements. I hope that she is very successful with her series and continues to write what i love, Diverse Fiction 🙂

Jacinda Buchmann lives in Arizona with her husband and three children. She graduated from Carroll College, in Helena, Montana, with a B.A. in elementary education and later received a Master’s degree from Northern Arizona University, in school counseling. After spending several years as a teacher and later a school counselor, she now spends her time writing, any free chance she can get, that is, when she’s not spending time with her family or creating a new concoction in the kitchen.

She’s hosting a giveaway on her ebook and a few other prizes are available as well, including a $25 Amazon gift card. All you have to do is follow her on Facebook. I’m providing the link to anyone interested. I look forward to her future books!
